🌀 The J-curve is real—and steep. Median IRRs start negative for all vintages, then climb as funds mature. 2017 vintage:.• IRR at Q5 = -0.6%.• IRR at Q13 = 15.5%. 2021 vintage at Q13 = still negative (-0.9%). Final thoughts👇

📈 IRR varies massively by fund size. Smaller funds (<$10M) consistently post higher IRRs than mega-funds. Why? The law of large numbers—it’s easier to 2x a $10M fund than a $250M one.

💸 DPI is still hard to find. Only 30% of 2020 vintage funds have returned ANY capital to LPs. That % drops to just 15% for 2021 funds—though early signs show it's beginning to tick up.
