28 December 1974. Liverpool-born Tom Baker made his 1st appearance as Doctor Who on BBC1. He was the 4th Doctor and held the role for a record 7 series until 21 March 1981. He was replaced by Peter Davison. Many regard Tom as the best Doctor of all.
