Here’s a beautiful polychrome geometric mosaic of the 4thC AD found in via Nerino, Milan. The floor was perhaps part of the Imperial Palace or a patrician building. Note the edge of a well, cut into the floor after it was built. #MosaicMonday Archaeological Museum of Milan

‘The Crack’ is such a fantastic album, packed with great songs. Such a sad loss with the passing of Malcolm Owen (and later Paul Fox). If you get a chance to see Ruts DC now, grab it with both hands. Jennings, Ruffy & Heggarty are fantastic! Photo by me
On this day in 1979 No 16 UK Album Chart The Ruts “The Crack” As debut albums go this one is a killer, such talent. I’ve got to choose “Babylons Burning” how about you? #1970s #Punk #TheRuts @jillwebb2005 @nikidoog @Carolyn_on_x @FatOldAnarchist @brunstead @SkaManD14

Saturday afternoon fun at @CrowleyOnAir’s Lost 80s at The Social. Big thanks to Stuart for his help yesterday, and to Gary for the great set and, of course, for my Generation X shout out! Sometimes the blurred pics are the best! I love my ‘Social Groovers’ family! 💃🕺

In London, with a takeaway cup of builder’s tea. I found a great cafe, shame I didn’t have time for a full English breakfast.

Here’s Dad, about to tuck into a roast chicken Sunday lunch (with a glass of white wine of course). Not bad for 100 and 3/4!

Hello! It’s #IdolSunday and I know that @FatOldAnarchist is having some technical issues and can’t post, so in the meantime here’s Triumph by Generation X. It’s one of my faves by them. Photos by Ray Stevenson taken at Air Studios https://t.co/8DyIRzZI7i

OTD 10 October 1977 Talking Heads play CBGB, New York. This was their final performance at the legendary club. A recording of the gig was released in 2024 as part of the ‘Super Deluxe Edition’ of their debut album Talking Heads: 77. I love this ‘communique’! 👇🏻

This isn't a bad night out for £1.80 on a Sunday, is it? OTD, 9th October 1977, Ultravox, supported by Radio Stars and XTC, played the Roundhouse. I'd definitely have been up for that. Unfortunately I was at home preparing for Sixth Form College the next day. ☹️

Oh man, I know I'm weird but this is my kind of article. The Bronze Hoplite Panoply and the Othismos in the Early Phalanx by H. W. Lanphier. Otherwise known as 'the push, or not the push: that is the question'. @Sarah404BC

After the birthday shenanigans there was time to show Kate Apollonia before she headed back to the UK! This is one of my favourite archaeological sites in Albania.

7 October 1977 The Fall played The Squat, Manchester, a Rock Against Racism gig. The Squat no longer exists, it was on Devas St, Oxford Rd, by the University. Photos by Bernie Wilcox from the Manchester Digital Music Archive Thats a very shiny shirt! https://t.co/QWhgGaRbvz

My view tonight doesn’t look real. The sunset was ablaze on the horizon. It’s like a painting.
