Staff shortages & capacity pressures have forced hospitals across Ont. incl. @KingstonHSC to shuffle patients between departments, close sections of emergency departments & treat people in hallways. Hospitals remain here to care no matter the circumstances https://t.co/xDi7hpqHbV

Friends, it's been a difficult 24 hours. Staff harassed for meals. A service user and security guard assaulted. Through it all, you have donated and filled our hearts with gratitude. Every cent will support people experiencing homelessness. Thank you. See our statement ⬇️

Premier @fordnation, politicians agree that #Bill124 must be repealed! Mayor @patrickbrownont passed a motion for the Brampton City Council to call on the Ont. gov't to immediately #RepealBill124 as a first step to ending the #NursingCrisis & preventing a health system collapse.

Prov. Govt's are pushing for drastic increases in nursing school admissions to remedy the nursing shortage. New gradauate nurses have the highest rates of attrition in the profession. Adding more nurses won't fix the toxic work environments that drive them out of the profession.

A predictable pattern of mutation and spread will only continue if wealthier countries do not share COVID-19 vaccines with others that can’t afford them, writes @machealthsci’s Dawn Bowdish and @mcmasterhum’s Chandrima Chakraborty.

In places with low vaccination rates, COVID-19 has the chance to linger, and variants develop and travel. Without global vaccine equity, this entirely predictable pattern will repeat itself. [...]R...

There is a deep, discriminatory meaning to this law. It clearly runs counter to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Elin Wilson drew this card for her teacher Fatemah Anvari after she lost her position because of #Bill21. Even a third-grader can see that this law is unfair.

How is this even a thing in 2021? Without a driver's license, disabled people are unable to renew their health cards online. Remove the hurdles @fordnation

If you don’t have an Ontario driver’s licence, you can’t renew your health card online. Disability rights advocates raised this two years ago—but @fordnation government did nothing. #ontpoli https://t.co/AXURpIhyjB

Please let’s flatten this curve. #GetVaccinated. I do not want Ontario to look similar to our colleagues in Alberta. I do not want our health system to shut down essential high risk surgeries because our ICUs are full.

Just like individuals are the sum of their lived experiences, countries must reconcile that same fact. The past is who we are today, but doesn’t need to be all we are tomorrow. #CanadaDay #CanadaDay2021

The Covid-19 Vaccines are safe and effective. Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna are both mRNA vaccines, which teaches our cells to make antibodies and protect us from the virus. Vaccinations are an important and useful measure to keep ourselves and others safe.

Paid sick leave is an urgently required health intervention. It’s necessary, now. It also isn’t rocket science. It needs to be immediate, seamless, and provide for a worker’s full pay. We’ve been asking for this for a year. Let’s just get it done.

We should respond to the death of 13-year-old Emily Viegas by providing parents better workplace protections to ensure families are safer

I would love for someone at @loblawco to reconcile these two articles in today’s @globeandmail. Make me feel better and tell me what you’re doing for staff to protect their health. It’ll comfort us all knowing you’re doing right by your staff. @tara_deschamps / @davidmilstead
