The US trained and equipped Iraqi Army failed to perform and collapsed. The US trained and equipped Afghan Army failed to perform and collapsed. The US trained and equipped South Vietnamese Army failed to perform and collapsed. Now the US trained and equipped Ukrainian Army is…

The first several weeks of Ukraine’s counteroffensive have not been kind to its Western-trained troops. Now, the Ukrainian brigades have set aside U.S. fighting methods and reverted to tactics they know best.

@CarolinaLion2 Exception that proves the rule: South Korea. The Generals that ruled the country after independence were all trained by the Japanese.

@CarolinaLion2 The US keeps trying to copy the sepoy model and keeps failing. Might be because the sepoy model is not actually something that is easy to replicate and depended on the unique situation in India at the time the institution was created

@CarolinaLion2 Iraq and Afghanistan collapsed because the population didn’t want the US there, SV collapsed because we stopped giving them arms and munitions, this isn’t a tactics and strategy issue it’s a people problem

@CarolinaLion2 Firepower-centric doctrine only works with endless wells of munitions to expend on problems? Who knew?

@CarolinaLion2 The U.S. Army does not know how to fight a ground war. It is overly reliant on air power and combined arms. That is fine when you have a huge military. It does not work when all you really have are infantry and tanks.

@CarolinaLion2 The South Vietnamese army actually did perform quite well, what caused it's eventual collapse was when we stopped supplying them with fuel, ammunition, parts, and air support

@CarolinaLion2 25,000 to 50,000 amputees in Ukraine now. Saw elsewhere 20% of serious casualties require amputation, so 125,000 to 250,000 seriously hurt. Amputee rate in Ukraine rises to level akin to WWI via @YahooNews

@CarolinaLion2 Tbf to the south Vietnamese they did fight hard and to the bitter end they lost partially because US stopped giving them fuel or ammo while north Vietnam at points had support from both USSR and China

@CarolinaLion2 The Ukrainians are the best proxy force we’ve ever had and the others can’t compare. We’re asking the Ukrainians to beat Russia. We need to actually step up with the equipment.

@CarolinaLion2 That’s because you think the objective is for someone to win, not for everyone to lose. Americans are treating foreign armies as disposable to maintain power without having to make great sacrifices to our own forces. It’s incredible.
