She changed quickly into something simple but stunning — a soft, fitted dress that moved when she did. Nothing flashy. Just enough to make his breath catch for half a second. When she heard the front door open, her heart jumped.

She paused for a moment, taking it all in. This wasn’t about perfection. It was about him. About the way Jay had been carrying so much lately. About the way he tried to stay strong for everyone else. Tonight was her way of saying you don’t have to carry it alone.
