We also investigate MoNUDIX localisation, and demonstrate that MoNUDIX-like effectors are used by pathogenic Colletotrichum species. This work was a collaboration between @williams_simonj lab at @BiologyANU, Oliveira-Garcia lab @LSU, and Schaffrath lab at @RWTH 5/5.

Inositol pyrophosphates (PP-InsPs) signal phosphate availability in plants. We show that producing MoNUDIX in plants induces phosphate starvation responses and suppresses immune responses. Here is our current model explaining MoNUDIX’s function. 4/5

We determined the structure of MoNUDIX to help characterise enzymatic activity. We show that MoNUDIX hydrolyses eukaryotic signalling molecules called inositol pyrophosphates. 3/5
