The USA team did everything wrong in the men's relay. The passing system is wrong, athletes running the wrong legs, and it was clear that there was no leadership. It was a total embarrassment, and completely unacceptable for a USA team to look worse than the AAU kids I saw .

I've always wondered how Blacks and other POC who benefit from affirmative action feel about the perception some may have that their achievements — however fully earned — may be partially due to bias in favor of minorities. This is unhealthy for minorities and society at large.

I was 7 years old when he made that jump. I went out and measured it in my yard and couldn't believe how far it was. The next year my mother started her own track club for girls. She let us boys join the next year. I've also become friends with Bob. Today was her birthday. 🙏

She was even in Life magazine in 1952. She was injured in the shoot and didn't get to go to the Olympics after she made the team. But fate sent her there when Carol and I made the World Championship team in 1983. She made it to Helsinki after all with us.

College track and field athletes should NOT be able to compete at any Country Nationals the same year they Compete at a NCAA Championship. You should have to wait till the following year. The fact that people miss the “why”…
