First photo from early September when four fields of Sunflowers were at their peak. Second photo shows one of the fields today. Chaffinches in numbers not seen for some years. Greenfinches with them, 1 Brambling. Approx. 76 acres of prime bird food on the Papercourt patch

My best find in the garden this week is Postia caesia, the Conifer Blueing Bracket fungus. Found on a corner post inside a compost bin. Taken with phone camera.

In our Send garden today this female Stomorhina lunata, Locust Blowfly. A parasite of the Desert Locust in Africa, it lays eggs on the egg-pods of the locust and its larvae eat the contents. Considered a vagrant to the UK, numbers increasing. @surreybic

Covid bug in retreat so an isolated walk around Puttenham Common this morning. Some very nice bees and wasps including Nomada baccata and its host Andrena argentata, Ammophila pubescens, Coelioxys conoidea and Cerceris ruficornis. My first of year Silver-studded Blues as well.
