Worked with colleagues to present tips #clinicians should know about #hospice #livedischarge. My personal fave? Don't call it a graduation! It can diminish needs and non-celebratory feelings. #hapc @spwladkowski @laurenhuntRN @klharrisonPhD @JoanMTeno

Making a plan for what you want when it comes to the end of your life is one of the kindest acts. I spoke about hospice care and how to navigate loved ones' wishes on @USATODAY's The Excerpt with @DanaTaylorMix.

#Hospice remains mostly unchanged since its inception in policy in 1982. Yet people with chronic illness don’t die with predictable 6-month prognoses. Grateful USA Today is bringing attention to these challenges. #hapc.

"The Carters perhaps will join other longtime couples who die within days to months of each other. But the drastic difference in lengths of hospice care brings attention to this question: Can someone 'outlive' their hospice stay?" writes Cara L. Wallace.

I wrote an opinion piece in @usatodayopinion raising questions about #hospice. “If reaching the age of 104 is not your definition of end of life we need to be thinking of how to change that definition and bring comfort and care to those who need it.”- Jean Bowman @SWHPN #hapc.

The Carter family's use of hospice—both Rosalynn's short use and Jimmy's long length of stay—is an opportunity to help people understand important benefits and current policy limitations, and to encourage greater dialogue about end-of-life care.
