Leftists who want to engage with the Democratic Party at all—and there are good reasons to do so, in spite of everything—should treat it like the Tea Party treated Republicans fifteen years ago.

This is true, and it wasn’t just Bernie. It was the progressive left in general. Elected officials made a conscious decision to associate themselves closely with Biden that ended up being completely disastrous. They didn’t understand where their own appeal came from.
