“Truth” invites gurus and shamans, it invites rationalization, it welcomes selective bias and confirmation.

I have a talk coming up for coaches with a large youth soccer program. It got me thinking about the distinction and over-lap between durability and recovery.

Do you seriously think the billionaire investors in “AI” don’t have an agenda? That they aren’t manipulating model outputs to foster “answers” that ultimately serve their interests and worldview? Students, do you understand now why we fail you for using it?.

This is an example of why drivers insisting cyclists get on the sidewalk is so fucking absurd. It’s more dangerous up there.

Reading the paper I see the justification for the review is that there’s this big Zone 2 push. I’m a little underwhelmed by a total of 3 citations between 2 authors san milan and attia … is there more beyond these 2?.

To sum up: We’re not anti Zone 2, pro HIIT only, in any camp per se. We simply just wanted to fact check claims on the internet using currently available experimental evidence and I just don’t see strong evidence that Zone 2 uniquely delivers the metabolic and mitochondrial.

If you’ve ever looked at a power-duration curve you’ve seen the answer; a tiny decrease in power nets a huge increase in duration. So if you hold back just a touch, you get yourself plenty of reserve to not collapse.

Therefore, the limits of fatigue cannot be purely physical; it seems they may be more influenced by the mind than previously thought. And in recent years, this hypothesis has been confirmed.

Do you have time (LOTS) to train like and elite? No? Well then, what the hell does what the elites do matter to you? The point of going slow is not going slow but going long … really long, like longer than you would ever go even if you had the time.

Let’s start with intensity. Most of the weekly training was easy: about 80–90%. And here’s the key insight: the majority of that easy work wasn’t in Zone 2. It was Zone 1. Yes, slower than the zone the internet is obsessed with. Why? Because true aerobic development comes.
