Orchard Bloom Update: apricots are expected to bloom over the next two weeks closely followed by peaches. Apples and pears should bloom the week after next, lasting about two weeks. Cherries, as the last fruit trees to bloom, are expected around the final week of March.

Paving of the Scenic Drive will cause the Capitol Reef Visitor Center to close for one day, 10/24. The road will be open with flaggers to allow traffic through the construction. Park rangers (and the passport stamp) will be available from 8 to 4:30 in the picnic area.

Orchard Update: Apples and pears are opening in multiple orchards today, Tuesday, 9/17. Prices for apples are $2/lb or $30 per bushel, and prices for pears are $2/lb with no bushel pricing available. Open orchards include the Krueger, Holt, Chesnut, and Mott. NPS

Orchard Update: The Merin Smith and Mott orchards will open for apple and pear harvest starting tomorrow, 9/14. Prices are $2/lb. or $30/50 lb. bushel. Both orchards will be open from dawn to dusk and are expected to remain open for several days to a week.

Orchard update: The Johnson Orchard pear harvest is closed and did not open today, 8/22. Flemish Beauty Pears are available at $2 a pound in the Gifford Orchard. Capitol Reef Red Apples are available at $2 a pound in the Jackson Orchard.
