One of the encouraging elements of the new 10 Year Heath Plan is a commitment to to introduce new standards for alcohol labelling. The government must now follow through on this. And information on labels should include key health risks, such as cancer.

France's anti-smoking laws are now considerably more advanced than the UK's. If we are to reach the goal of a #smokefreeuk, we need to continue to reduce the number of spaces in which smoking is permitted and acceptable.

This week is #AlcoholAwarenessWeek run by @AlcoholChangeUK . Alcohol is a risk factor in seven different types of cancer including those of the breast, oesophagus, throat and liver. To reduce incidence of cancer we must reduce drinking, starting with consumption at work.

It is concerning to hear that asbestos regulations could be loosened in the US. Asbestos is responsible for 5,000 deaths a year in the UK and over 200,000 deaths globally. There is no safe level of exposure. We should be phasing it out of use entirely.
