In the 80s, 90s and 2000s, left-wing parties called it wage suppression and blamed right-wingers for wanting to destroy the working class. Doesn't matter if you agree or not. I just can't understand how people can do a 180 degrees change and not even realize what they did.

Recent reports have found that slashing annual immigration will lower asking rents and bolster wages. Canadians were misled for years about the effects of rapidly expanding the population. Now, the truth is out. My latest for the @nationalpost.

Statscan released the latest IPPI (industrial producer inflation). Along with other factors, it looks like we are on track to have CPI between 2% and 2.5% YoY in the 2nd half of 2025.

Yikes. Bubbles can go on for a very long time, but this level of concentration means that it would unravel very fast when the time comes.

Wild:.The top 5 stocks in the $NDX 100 comprise 52% of the index's combined market cap. The top 2 stocks, $NVDA & $MSFT, with $8 trillion in combined market cap, represent 27% of the index. Even wilder: Since the April lows both stocks show a 95% directional price correlation.

So let's sell the future of our young, create an underclass that has to live in crowded houses so some businesses can make some more profit. Oh, let's make the people being sold out pay for it via taxes. 🤡.

It is almost as if out of control spending and deficits have consequences. Don't worry though, hedge fund basis trade never blows up and cause a financial crisis.

2/2 Even QoQ data is very noisy. It is too early to see if this season is fizzling slowly or falling off a cliff. I think June and July data should make it clearer.

Breaking! 🚨 Statscan just released the household debt aggregate data. YoY mortgage is at 4.68% in May. Non mortgage is at 3.82%. The non mortgage growth is high, but the mortgage one is low when compared to the last 15 years.

The simplest and most effective RE fraud deterrent seems to take 15 months to just say: OK, it is a good idea. Maybe another 4 years to build? I am starting to feel that fraud is welcomed by the elites 🙃.

The CRA Is The Dumbest Organization In Canada: It's Taken 15 Months To Produce A Report On Mortgage Document Fraud. Guess what: they think Income Document Fraud is bad & its a good idea to build CRA linkage to verify if the income is correct. 15 Frigging MONTHS!. 2/.

The most important chart from today's CPI release: accumulated inflation vs average wages. According to StatsCan, the average person suffered 22% inflation in five years, but got 25% worth of raises. Most people will tell you that neither number matches their reality.

Here is the accumulated inflation since 2019. Lower income families can easily have lost 26%+ of purchasing power since more of their income goes to high inflation components such as food, shelter and transportation. Monetary policy matters after all.

I hate to say it, but it looks like inflation is rebounding again. That will be the final blow to our economy. The only component that is still low is the transportation one, but only due to the carbon tax removal.

StatsCan just released the latest inflation data. It is going to be hard for the BoC to bail out the RE market: short-term inflation is alive and well: 2.2% (annualized) in June. More importantly, core inflation is at 3%. The carbon tax cancellation is hiding the trend.

Breaking! 🚨 StatsCan just released the June CPI. It came at 1.93% YoY (all items), which is 0.1% higher than last month. Core prints are still high above 3%. This should keep the BoC cuts at bay for a while.

StatsCan will release the latest CPI data tomorrow morning. I expect it to remain soft (YoY) between 1.7% and 1.9%. Having said that, the core CPI is still pretty high. The consumer carbon tax is keeping the CPI aprox. 0.5% below were it would be.

StatsCan just released the LFS employment data for June. Even though the data is good at first glance, we are still in one of the worst job markets in the last 20 years. Right now, there are 2.82 job seekers fighting for each job.

Breaking! 🚨 StatsCan just released the LFS jobs data. The country added 83k jobs, which is a good rebound. Keep in mind that monthly data is very volatile. Most of the jobs were part-time, which undermines the strength of that number.

2/2 The difference between the LFS and SEPH (payroll) is brutal. Such an overall gap between the two is also unprecedented. Something has got to give: 30k vs 286k??

Breaking! 🚨StatsCan just released the employment figures (LFS). The trend of the household survey showing a much rosier picture (+1.9% QoQ) than the payroll survey continues (-0.14%). Based on what people are saying about the job market, I put my money on the payroll data. 1/2
