Miss E’s cel-E-bration of life is going to be May 3rd from 12-5 at the Historic Farmville Train Station. More details to come, but it will be an open house-style event so folks can come and go as their schedule allows.

Hard to believe it’s already/only been a week. My sincere thanks once again to everyone who’s reached out, said a prayer, donated to the GiveSendGo, or just let me know that you care and I’m not alone. You’ve made some awful days a little easier to handle.

@Centra Again, thank you for all the love and support you have given her, me, and our family over the years and in recent days. I'm forever grateful for the kindness that's been shown to us.

@Centra This spring we'll be doing a formal celebration of life for Miss E, most likely at the farm. But those of us who love and miss her can celebrate her every day by following her lead: loving others, challenging ourselves, creating new things, and living life to the fullest.

@Centra Even at the end, we were blessed to get more than a week with her to say our goodbyes, to have one last Christmas with her, and to let her know how much she was loved. That is a gift, and no matter how devastated I am by her absence I'd be an idiot not to acknowledge it.

@Centra I believe that it *was* a miracle that she lived for so long (and so well) despite her illness. The care she received was crucial of course, but I'm also convinced that the many prayers that were offered up on her behalf were answered.

@Centra About a year and a half ago her oncologist told her that she was a miracle. Miss E didn't like hearing that, to be honest. Ignorance was bliss when it came to her cancer, and the less she knew about how serious it was the better for her outlook.

As much as I'm grieving, I'm also well aware of the many blessings that she received since her diagnosis, including the wonderful care she got from the doctors and nurses at @Centra in Farmville and Lynchburg.

Miss E was no snowflake, but she was unique and special, and there'll never be another quite like her.

Her love of life, her devotion to friends and family, her joy of learning and creating, her ability to laugh in the face of adversity, and her grace made an impact on so many people.

In our 27 years together we had plenty of ups and downs, but our marriage was at its strongest over the past decade. We were best friends and constant companions, and I was her biggest admirer.

She lived a full life rich with experiences. She's the only person I know who won both a wet t-shirt contest and a blue ribbon at the State Fair (not in the same year, and not for the same thing, mind you).

In her prime, Miss E was a true force of nature, but even when she "lost her muchness" (as she put it) she was still more active than a lot of folks. She always had a craft project going, and finished her last baby blanket just a few days before she passed away.

She was a wonderful mom who loved her kids fiercely. When she was first diagnosed in 2016, she was so scared that she'd pass away before they finished school. Instead, she lived long enough to see them both graduate, and even homeschooled our youngest son.

Miss E's was a master knitter, the best chef I've ever met, and always willing and eager to challenge herself and her abilities. She was a voracious reader and loved learning almost as much as she loved creating.

I was trying to write out E's obituary last night, and it was harder than I thought it would be. Not just emotionally, but in trying to capture what made her so special to so many people.

My sincere thanks and deepest appreciation to everyone who's supported us through the GiveSendGo set up by @JohnPetrolino. Your kindness and generosity are true blessings to our family as we navigate a future without Miss E by our side.
