I think itโs brilliant that SL has won 3 in a row against the NRL despite its lower salary cap and limited resourcesโฆ But this is by no means a sign of health of the competition or administration. It just means pound for pound the players of our top teams are good.

For YEARS Super League has needed more than just Leeds, Saints and Wigan winning stuff. Iโm by no means celebrating another teams victory but Iโll embrace what it means for the sport If the big 3 becomes a big 4 and Hull/Warrington can get back up there then we have a good comp

The NRL doesnโt have any global sports clubs in the whole of its continent to compete with. Super League has many of them on its doorstep. Thatโs why pound for pound it embarrasses the NRL on the field. Even in the Ashes. The NRL โshouldโ be winning.

Half the salary cap. Almost no money from TV revenue. Best athletes generally all play other sports. Pound for pound put some respect on SLโs name.

Sometimes as Wigan fans we take success for granted. Watched Hull KR fans get so giddy about just participating in a WCC reminds me how lucky we are. Weโve played in 9. Iโve watched us win it twice. Some people have seen all 5.

The WCC has an underrated level of unpredictability considering the NRLโs salary cap is 3 times ours and SL is way inferior.

Irrelevant who wins for me. We need a GREAT game which solidifies the place of the WCC in the calendar. We need the NRL to buy into it more and for it to become a highlight not an afterthought. This game can attract a lot more interest as it once did.

To be clear we shouldnโt just increase the capโฆ. That just increases the average wage of the average players and the below average players. We need to increase the dispensations for home grown talent so clubs can keep their best.

The only route SL has to improving its product in the short term is with BETTER PLAYERS. Some current owners seem to be willing to put up their own money to achieve that. It costs the game nothing. Not a bad idea if theyโre willing? If it doesnโt work weโre no worse off.

The sport needs to allow the top clubs to kick on and not be held back just so smaller clubs can compete.
