4/4. Competition is good. Competition brings out the best in people. But you can compete without being an asshole.

3/4. I see the world as a perpetual struggle over finite resources, be it money, land, water, energy or market share. This requires a clear view of the field, understanding your competition and refusing to back down when challenged.

2/4. A new study shows that how we perceive ‘antagonistic’ government/business leaders depends on whether we see the world as a competitive jungle or as a more cooperative and benign environment. Like most things, I suspect the situation isn’t always that binary.

5/5 Focus too hard on one area and you’ll miss some crucial development occurring somewhere else. Not everyone has the ability to split their focus to this degree, and everyone will be caught completely unaware now and then. Just hopefully not by a guy with nunchucks.

4/5 Entrepreneurs know this look well. Running a business means being hyper aware of all the elements of your operation (stuff you control) as well as external market conditions (stuff you don’t). The latter are constantly changing, in every direction, all at once.
