Reflections What a topsy-turvy weekend at Imola! From blistering heat to torrential rain, this race tested both our skills and strategy. Huge thanks to Simon, Kate, and Brett for their stellar work.

The result? We clinched the win, complete with the fastest lap, further extending our championship lead!

A Surprise Victory Back in the paddock, the team greeted me with jubilation. The extended safety car period had allowed the stewards to review penalties, and the car ahead was hit with a time penalty for a short pit stop.

I returned to the paddock assuming a solid P2, frustrated yet satisfied with our championship points.

As I closed in, the weather deteriorated further, and the safety car returned. I joined the train, spotting the leader four cars ahead, confident I could pass if we went green. But the rain persisted, and after several laps, the red flag ended the race.

I relished the challenge—these are my kind of conditions! Balancing our championship lead with the need to push, I gave it everything, overtaking the leader and pressing on. The pit board showed P2, which puzzled me; I couldn’t figure out how the leader was a lap ahead.

The Restart: Charging in the Wet We were soon called for a safety car restart, with first drivers returning for at least one lap before the mandatory pit stop. Simon pitted, and I leapt into the cockpit. Emerging onto a streaming wet track with puddles and spray,

navigating a treacherous, wet Imola. Just a handful of laps in, worsening conditions brought the safety car back out. Then, a massive rainstorm hit, forcing the field into the pits for nearly 45 minutes as rain poured down, turning the track into a river.

Race Day: Battling the Elements As race time neared, storm clouds loomed. Rain began falling as we gridded up, and the race started behind the safety car on a slick track with heavy spray. After a few cautious laps, the safety car peeled off, and we were racing—

Thanks to Peter Auto’s average lap time rule, we secured 2nd on the grid—prime position with everything to fight for.

Qualifying: Securing a Strong Start Qualifying arrived quickly. I took the wheel first, setting fastest lap on my opening flying lap before a safety car interrupted the session. I pitted to hand over to Simon, but our brake gremlins returned, slowing his stint.

Free Practice: Setting the Pace Simon and I kicked off with free practice, getting reacquainted with Imola’s iconic layout, steeped in motorsport history. We posted the fastest lap, a great start, but a minor brake issue surfaced which we sorted in time for qualifying.
