My mom also thinks I’m weird. If you don’t like cats, kittens, puppies, and other cute animals, go away. She/her.

The White Sox swept the 2005 World Series 4-0. Jeff Bagwell did not get hit by another pitch.

After the shaky warm up, during which I’m pretty sure Pope Leo started praying the rosary, Bobby absolutely sent a message—not just to Bagwell, but the Astros. We weren’t expected to be here, and it may have been shaky along the way, but we’re here now and we’re coming for you.

Jeff Bagwell steps into the box, does his normal batting stance that looks like he’s taking a shit and gets close to the plate (White Sox fans aren’t Jeff Bagwell fans, or at least I’m not). Bobby’s first pitch is a 103 mph fastball high and inside for a strike.

Hard throwing, corn field strong Bobby comes out, gets the ball and a butt slap from Ozzie, and starts warming up. The first pitch is easily 4 feet over AJ’s head. Oh boy. The second pitch is better, maybe 3 feet. AJ was able to leap to catch the third pitch. Phew.

Bobby’s first batter is Jeff Bagwell. If you look back on Jeff’s stats, he had a pretty unremarkable WS after the first game. At this point, he has had 2 ABs, but is 0-0 with 2 HBPs. This was back when you could wear the heavy arm shield and I think you see my implication here.

My dad, the Pope and I went to game 1 of the WS. The game was really tight and it was time to bring in the closer. Ozzie goes out to the mound, calls for the righty, realizes he has two warming up and does his “tall and wide” gesture (you know this part).

The passive voice here drives me crazy. My biggest galaxy brain sports~taek~ is that Bobby Jenks won the 2005 World Series for the White Sox. Paulie had a great series, Pods really set things off snd Buehrle was Buehrle, BUT Bobby Jenks won it. A quick, but late, thread:
Bobby Jenks, a two-time All-Star pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, who was on the roster when the franchise won the 2005 World Series, died on Friday in Sintra, Portugal, the team announced.

Spoken like a true White Sox fan.
In our competitive society, where it seems that only the strong and winners deserve to live, sport also teaches us how to lose. It forces us, in learning the art of losing, to confront our fragility, our limitations and our imperfections. It is through the experience of these

Thank you, @PittTweet, for this incredible honor. Before she passed, my mom asked me to finish my education — and I kept that promise. This past weekend, standing on stage receiving a Doctorate of Letters felt like another way to honor her belief in me. Grateful — for her, for

If a woman had 13 kids by four different men, used ketamine and spent all her time running a shadow presidency, I’m not sure our society would celebrate her.
