Some Klamath River lands once held by the power company that owned the dams are now back in tribal hands. After the 2002 dam-driven salmon kill, the largest in river history, the dams are gone, the land has been returned, and salmon are coming back. https://t.co/PMbuK3OOio

The American River below Nimbus Dam once had a strong wild salmon run. In recent years, hot water releases from Folsom & Nimbus dams have delayed spawning and wiped out that run. The fact remains that cold water and timing matters. Read more: https://t.co/Ca8NnLXkvA

The deluge last week and the high water rises at many reservoirs puts California in great shape for the coming year. I’ve been tracking roughly 200 lakes. Under the water in the photo I took, there’s a boat ramp and a kid’s fishing pier. Unbelievable. See Facebook for my list.

Good work up in Humboldt County, the Yurok Tribe’s reveg project is restoring salmon strongholds on a Klamath tributary. https://t.co/qvqEI6dsq3 Now if they’d open the Redwood Creek estuary downstream, we’d likely see stronger salmon resurgence there too.
