Today was Election Day here in South Africa. A European friend asked “what that looks like when”—he assumed—“elections are rigged.” An American texted me to “be careful” of riots. Man, South Africa still has to put up with so many dark preconceptions.
21/n I was interested to see that the writer who, last week, called South Africa an "orgy of arson and looting" and "incalculably" damaged--as if he was shocked--was the same writer who confessed, in 2010, he never would believe South Africa could manage after apartheid.

Wow I was completely clueless until I read up more following this post… The #NWSLExpansionDraft is ludicrous 🤯 You think football is all about team building and then rip it all apart… that’s awful. I feel for the players, the coaches, the team.
