This should be on everyone’s radar. Hits hard but with also with genuine humour. I wish I could put it in the hands of the councillors so insistent on cutting amenities & opportunities from working class communities! Definitely one for older teens. Absolutely brilliant.
'An absolute must-read; tough, in your face, and pulls no punches' @MelvinBurgess TREACLE TOWN by award-winning author @ConaghanAuthor is an original and devastating Young Adult novel about poverty and working class culture in modern Britain. Out today!

Astonishing performance by US Secretary of State Anthony "the Axe" Blinken. Sets the bar high for other Foreign Ministers. What say you @JamesCleverly @ABaerbock @melaniejoly @MinColonna? #diplomaticblues #softpowerrock
I couldn’t pass up tonight’s opportunity to combine music and diplomacy. Was a pleasure to launch @StateDept’s new Global Music Diplomacy Initiative.

Deeply disturbing. All you need to know about the new right wing populism in the Conservative Party summed up in a smile from a former Home Secretary + applause as she attacks “the establishment…,the Brexit-bashing, free speech deniers at the BBC”.
'The most successful, most dynamic, no nonsense news station, and the defenders of free speech'. Watch the moment @pritipatel passionately defended GB News to rapturous applause this evening at the Conservative Democratic Organisation gala dinner.

This is simply superb from @vicderbyshire. An absolutely sublime masterclass in how UK media should be holding these truth twisters to account
Tory MP Michelle Donelan: “We are the Party of facts” *VT compilation of Tory lies* Victoria Derbyshire: “There was never a proposal to use 7 bins, we can’t find any council that wants to decide when you can go to the shop & Labour have never proposed taxing meat” #Newsnight

“Ms. Braverman is trying to poison the soul of everyone for her own very narrow political survival”. I don’t always agree with @yanisvaroufakis but this is absolutely stunning.
Wowses. Ex Greek finance minister @yanisvaroufakis tells me Suella Braverman should be "expelled" from the UK for starting this "misanthropic, stupid debate" about immigration — that she is a "ridiculous idiot" and a "poor excuse for human nature"😳 https://t.co/Lzpbz3Z7di

This is superb work by @libertyhq The High Court has granted Liberty permission to take legal action against Suella Braverman for unlawfully introducing new anti-protest legislation which had been democratically rejected by Parliament. Way to go Liberty! https://t.co/lKQYkk7W5l

Just one problem Penny: under your government’s protest laws if you stand up and fight for your human rights in the street you will now be arrested

As it is #NationalPoetryDay & as a square in Glasgow will be named Jackie Kay Plaza can you suggest a fictitious street name in a real place celebrating poets. I will start the ball rolling with Rosen Rise in Pinner. Think of it as a poetic Mornington Crescent

"Let the Light Pour In" has been out for 9 days. It is a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller as of Sunday October 1st. It is unusual for poetry to be a hardback fiction Sunday Times bestseller so I am over the moon. It is a full moon too #letthelightpourin

Libraries are not a luxury. They are a life-line. Once again, the library that sheltered me as a boy and nurtured me as a reader, is facing closure. Along with 38 other libraries, sports centres & community hubs in North Lanarkshire. We have to stop this:
