Wendy Osborn from @CITB_UK talks all things skills, looking at what needs to be done to address labour shortages in construction. Changing image perceptions of construction were said to be essential in attracting new recruits.

Our Director, David Hopkins, gave a presentation on the Timber in Construction Policy Roadmap that is set to be released this autumn. The presentation looked at the barriers to timber construction, and how the government is looking to address them.

Deputy Director, Infrastructure, Construction & Rail at the Department for Business & Trade, Fergus Harradence, gives his thoughts on decarbonising construction. He states "whole life carbon approaches and modular construction are essential" to tackling construction emissions.

Proceedings have begun with a talk from Dame Judith Hackitt who is outlining the building safety challenges faced in the UK. It is great to hear such an influential figure take a measured and nuanced approach to building safety.
