Know Justice, Know Peace 100 Years of Activism in the Archives exhibition is now open! Opening reception will be held on October 6, 2022 from 4:30 pm to 7 pm in the Library Arts Center, Room LIB 1940. Contact the Gerth Archives for information about the exhibit or class tours.

The Nelson Blackstock papers, in the Gerth Archives and Special Collections, contain issues of “The Student Voice," the main organ of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), which was a point of entry for students to engage in the civil rights movement in the 1960s

Visit the Gerth Archives and Special Collections to view research materials concerning Historic Black Churches in the U.S from the Don Lee White collection, which chronicles the life of the prolific chorale conductor, musicologist, and LA native Dr. Don Lee White (1926-2010).

Alfred and Bernice Ligon were local community leaders, founders of the Aquarian Bookshop and Aquarian Spiritual Center, and metaphysical studies scholars and teachers who taught Black Gnosticism classes. Their collection can be found at the Gerth Archives and Special Collections.
