The pieces are falling into place. Yoshida wasn’t merely doing his duty but operating with the knowledge that Public Safety already has it out for Denji. He's been working tirelessly to intercept threats from multiple directions./
#csm142
Nah Fumiko really be messing with my emotions cause her acknowledging Denji in that moment is kind of a big deal but I still can't grow fond of her
I think the strength of her outfits is in how they support the way the story has shown us that Makima places a great deal of importance on appearances and "playing the part." She has these restrictive, preconceived notions as to what humans *should* be like, how Chainsaw Man/
#csm142
my poor sweet Denji you were embroiled in one of the most traumatic battles of your life and still you experience guilt over things that weren't your fault...God his reaction here stings
#csm153
Fascinated by the decision to crop out the full span of Denji's arms in Nayuta's recollection of this moment, when that was how Denji was expressing his care for her. It gives me the impression that *Denji* and him being there at all is what actually mattered to her.
#csm134
Some of the most anguished expressions we've ever seen on Denji, and it's no wonder: revising Chainsaw Man's story not only invalidates Denji's experiences, but it acts as a form of erasure. It would be one thing to put down the mantle of "Chainsaw Man", but having it/
YOSHIDA
THEY CALLED YOU A FRAUD
THEY CALLED YOU THE DEATH DEVIL
THEY SAID U BETTER KEEP YOUR ASS IN THAT OFFICE OR YOURE FINISHED
IN ONE MOVE YOU CAN STOP BAREM FROM NO DIFFING NAYUTA
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO??
#csm145
Something seems significant to me about the fact that Asa was already planning to turn her apartment (and thereby the door itself) into a weapon. There's a clear contrast between her mentality and Denji's at this time, and her vigilance is actually kind of concerning./
I think this actually makes their relationship more meaningful! It turns out she actually had inherited the desire for his heart/even had motive to try and pick up where Makima left off but still their bond won out. What Denji provided for her had a greater impact.
Denjis face of shock here is so heartbreaking, everything he wanted to shield Nayuta from, the normal life he wanted to give her was all ripped away from her, she's just as involved in this as he is, he failed to preserve her childhood

Wallahi I can't do this anymore Fujimoto the psychopath keeps tweeting about watching the circus show and going to 7/11 and then drops this shit on us after three weeks I'm gonna
#csm141
This sentimental chapter starts with Denji spotting that Chainsaw Man curry buns are discounted to half-off (cheap at 49 yen) and something about this gives him pause. I can't help but think that it resonates with him--he feels that his treasured identity is cheapened,/
Like she acts like she doesn't gaf with her quiet demeanor and "ignorance is bliss", but in reality she really does care about those around her. The only time her protectiveness was overwhelming was with Minami, and Minami was a weak human
#csm133
Yoshida literally went "wouldn't it be sooooo nice, you could go to school like a normal person, have a normal life, idkwecouldbebestiesorsomething, you have like, dogs..."
the concept of devils has become so interesting especially after the recent chapter like we know they're fundamentally selfish/evil driven but can change their impulses given a certain incentive. now the question is how much nayuta means it and will actually abide by it.
And Denji using a chainsaw formed with Power's blood to take down Makima (that panel also a callback to one of the first csm illustrations) is such brilliant cathartic justice that in spite of all the tragedy in csm I'm convinced that somehow, it will end positively
This whole sequence absolutely ruined me when I first read it. God, I loved Power and Denji’s friendship that Makima didn’t think would last past her death. This was what Makima could NOT see nor control and what she was looking for her whole life. This. The hug. Them.
I honestly enjoy Falling so much as a villain. While she is unmistakably terrifying (given her abilities and her MO), her quips have genuine comedic value. Her composure and willingness to entertain Denji's strange remarks lighten the mood while conversely proving to be even/
Picking out my fave panels from csm when it is like a visual smorgasbord for me is very difficult, but as far as underrated ones go, these pages from chapter 58: Yutaro Kurose are special to me. Absolutely floored me on my first read (a thread 🧵)
This isn't the craziest chainsaw man paneling by a long shot, but it is creative and isn't talked about as much as like the darkness devil.
On that note, What is a chainsaw man panel you think is underrated? I'll go first
#csm151
He said that his body may still be under Makima's rule (unlikely I think) but then made the distinction of his HEART belonging to her...was he in love with her? Was the reason he wasn't puppeteered into simping in part 1 because it simply wasn't necessary?
Hear me out...with all these chainsaw people in the streets, there will be a lot of blood everywhere...more people scared of blood because bleeding is more likely to occur...blood devil gets a mad power-up...BLOOD DEVIL SOON TRUST 🙏🏾
#csm133
This chapter really made it clear that things over at Public Safety aren't running too smoothly. They've escalated to the point that they tried to pull some mobster bs, and Yoshida lost his composure even though Denji was responding exactly as he always has./
I only noticed today that the panel structure here is almost identical...interesting that they're 34 chapters apart but both depicting Denji's obliviousness to the effect that Makima has on Power
I think it's significant that Nayuta, who loves to watch Chainsaw Man fight and is likely yearning for payback, is alarmed/concerned when Denji finally pulls the cord. It makes sense that she's disturbed by his laughter--the magnitude of his release in this moment is lost on her.
#csm132
Denji powerlessly lunging into a faceplant in response to the thought of Nayuta bound in a cell or compromised in any way felt like a knife in my chest. Being unable to protect loved ones has got to be such a trigger for him, Iosing her probably feels too plausible.
#csm134
As gut-wrenching as this chapter has been, I can't believe just how hard it hit me to see Denji being cared for in even the slightest capacity. I also can't get enough of how intimately Nayuta understands him.
Thoughts on the Reze movie poster: interesting that the most recognizable flowers for me (the daffodils and that particular type of primrose) are poisonous/
If anything, nothing about the scene feels like it's being milked for shock value. The horror of it is marked by the Paradise Lost illustration shown just beforehand and the nervous look on Power's face that matched her demeanour whenever she was subjected to Makima's influence.
Not only that, but there was a carefully-plotted purpose to her death and that specific *means* of death, that it was the result of his opening the door. It literally had to happen that way, as Makima explains, and ties in to the door theme introduced all the way back in ch. 38
And true to his word, Denji's "peace" does seem to matter to him. It almost seems like he thinks he can protect Denji better by not alerting him to the threats that surround him. His antsy hovering and loss of composure make more sense now, too. Given the state of things there/
@tanijrou
People also gloss over the fact that plenty of Loid's disguises and things that he does are also completely impossible, I don't understand the obsession with Yor's strength in an unserious anime like this
The silence/non-responsiveness (minus the inner-Aki snowball talk) paired with the wicked grin + only uttering "Denji" at the very start was so fucking unsettling, especially when Aki as we knew him wasn't prone to smiling
"Relax we've got someone who can put them back" as if the experience of having your eyeballs forced out of your sockets by the people you expect to protect you wouldn't scar you for life already that shit was cold
#csm152
I can't help but feel like there is more to this, the way Denji is now on the opposite side/side that Aki was on, the way Nayuta is desperately trying to get through to him just as he was pleading with Aki. Ofc there are plenty of differences between the circumstances/
The fact Barem seemed lucid enough to interact with Makima like this and for her to even converse with him places him above her other puppets. The way this chapter solidified that he was in fact a follower of her philosophy highlights the brilliance of his set up in part 1./
Power captivated me so quickly because she was presented with mostly bizarre and unfavourable qualities from the get-go. She was lacking any of the glamorization that gremlin-esque female characters in other manga are often portrayed with. This made her refreshing and accessible/
Giggling imagining someone picking up vol 17 at a book store because they think this dude has Aura "he must love life" only to flip the cover and be met with the saddest image of all time like "oh." The catfishing is insane
This gets extra interesting if you consider that Makima's laughter, a real "mask-off" moment, was likely a product of the euphoria that came from clearing the last of the obstacles to living out her dream. She was freed from all pretense, as is Denji now that he's made his choice
I feel the same way yet I'm still so pleased/surprised with the amount of Yoshida characterization we got out chapters 133, 146 and 147. The direction we're headed in with him is one of the most exciting things for me in part 2 rn
Yoshida is kind of frustrating to me because so much of his character has yet to be revealed and I don't create a version of him in my head in case it turns out to be dead wrong and so I'm stuck not having an opinion on his character but also disliking Fanon
#csm138
STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP THE FUCKING PRESSESSSSSSSS IF REZE CAN COME BACK REZE CAN COME BACK REZE COMIN BACK???? REZE COMEBACK CONFIRM3D REZE COMING(LEAKED) REZE PART 2 CONFIRMED
#csm151
Something about the tone here (young Denji smiling and waving at Pochita in front of his burning home, likely containing the charred remains of his pets) was so unsettling it actually gave me snowball fight flashbacks.
These Yoshida panels have me in a chokehold. The way he can't make eye contact with her while apologizing and would sooner look at her severed arm. The way those two lines of dialogue have me revisiting all of part 2 just to take in all the memories of a "normal life" he and Asa/
rando is being given authority, deification, and waxing cringe about justice while wearing his identity. Denji might be csm but he also lives as a survivor of the experience built into being him. Watching the masses misinterpret him in real-time must be maddening.
Her aversion to the name "Famine", to the point of not responding to it at all..a quirk? A preference? Or does this hint at displeasure with her nature? Her obsession with human food, her goals, are they the result of an affinity for a human lifestyle or a rejection of devilhood?
