No amount of practice is going to make a musician of someone who cannot carry a tune in a bucket.
The many articles by Malcolm Gladwell (like Sacks, a fine essayist) which mixed good reporting with dubious statistical reasoning and misleading claims (e.g., that only practice, not talent, is necessary for achievement, or that IQ above 120 doesn't matter)

I found myself wondering about end of the world depictions in cinema. The earliest I could immediately think of was 'When Worlds Collide'. Turns out there were much earlier examples. https://t.co/l55OXKJLP2

@MW4Liberty You also do not need the physical card to make purchases. The Scan n Go apps used at Walmart and Sam's Club, for example, support EBT as a form of payment. You set it up just like a debit card in the app and can buy up to $750 worth of items at a time.

Consider that one of the big complaints about the sequel trilogy was how poorly Finn was used after his introduction had so much promise. This is not a complaint that someone who resented the very presence of a black character would have.

Neither of these complaints are true. Nobody batted an eye when Billy Dee Williams came onboard. And Leia had been there all along. The objections are to bad or non-existent character development and hamfisted storytelling.
Hot take, but the people who claim Star Wars is dead are the same people who killed it. Maybe if you didn’t screech at the presence of Black characters on your screen, or bitch and moan at sharing spaces with women, creativity wouldn’t be stifled. This is literally your fault.

Or you could cut to the chase and just have USEFUL IDIOT tattooed on your forehead.
If you're hopping mad about Trump destroying the White House, we've got a new hat or sticker for you. Your purchase supports progressive groups working to build a fairer, more inclusive America for everyone—and win elections! https://t.co/yGDgJciDQZ

That's 32 HOURS of a proven property for $73 million. (Again, possibly a lot less.) The list of anime this could be done with is quite lengthy. I expect there are studios already experimenting or fully underway on projects.

Every character only needs to have their appearance specified to the AI once, along with the appearance of things like how it looks when an alchemist wields their power. Say the first episode costs $10 million (perhaps a lot less) and the other 63 cost under a million each.

Imagine the entire run of a revered, lengthy, and completed series like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood being completely, scene for scene, adapted to live action. The voicework is already done. It's all laid out by feeding the series to the AI.

Ah yes, that notorious Christian Nationalist who is also Orthodox Jewish.
Not bc of “performance” as they allege, but bc for the last 5 days I have been doxxed by MostlyPeacefull and LibsofTiktok, two known White Supremacist and Christian Nationalist accts on here. All bc I told my followers to block them after they doxxed a colleague.

People should take advice from the movie and consider that just because they could does not mean they should. The internet has allowed people to be stupidly indiscrete before an audience of billions and discretion is a lost concept for far too many.

Everyone should take a moment to feel bad for this bozo's patients.
As a psychologist who specializes in bereavement, her words don’t read like grief at all. They read like rage. Not the grief of someone who lost the love of their life, but the fury of someone whose shared hatred just lost its co-pilot. Let’s break down why this is so chilling 🧵

Many masks were dropped today. None should be forgotten. This was a man who terrified them solely by the power of his words.

With the same circumstances? The pols refusing to show up for work getting off easy. I'd encourage any state to make it a simple firing offense, like most any other job.

@AleDiomai You can tell it's a low point in the writing on that series because Reed refers to Ben as Thing. Something he would never do to his closest and oldest friend. It's not like he has a secret identity. Horrible characterization to go with the inanity of throwing a rock at Galactus.

Is there anything more stupid than replying to someone about an old comic book and immediately blocking them? Looking at you, @AleDiomai The was also a wrestling match between Nova villain The Sphinx and Galactus. It was cringe, too.

Actions speak far louder than words in this case. He is aligned with people and organizations that only an anti-semite could embrace.
Mahmoud Khalil isn’t antisemitic, as so many of his Jewish peers have testified, unlike the president you support. Hey, here’s a public challenge: you list all of Khalil’s antisemitic statements and I’ll list all of Trump’s and we can see whose list is longer. You up for that?
