With COP16 happening right now in Colombia, it's a great time to draw attention to a new guidance report that's just been published by IUCN. The guidance was designed to ensure inland waters are part of the global conversation about conservation needs. Available from IUCN.

COP16 is on now, and many groups are working to bring conversations about freshwater to the forefront of the biodiversity discussion. Today at 5pm Eastern, IUCN will be livestreaming a panel discussion about Indigenous and Traditional Peoples as water custodians. Link in image.

October 3rd was declared Atlantic Salmon Conservation Day in Fredericton, NB by the mayor. As part of the ceremonies, CRI Director Dr. Jen Lento presented CRI PhD student Ryan Hill with the Bud and Peggy Bird Scholarship for his research on upstream passage solutions for salmon.

The CRI is pleased to announce that the recipient of this year's Bud and Peggy Bird Scholarship is Ryan Hill. Ryan is a PhD student at UNB Fredericton who is conducting research on upstream passage solutions for Atlantic salmon on the Wolastoq. Congratulations, Ryan!
