We recognize that many Calgarians continue to feel concerned about safety in the downtown core. Despite sustained enforcement efforts, including an intensive 8-month initiative earlier this year, both the perception & reality of social disorder & crime remain pressing challenges.

Our Commission was proud today to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of @CalgaryPolice's HAWCS helicopter program. Calgary was the first city in Canada to adopt police helicopters after Constable Rick Sonnenberg was killed while trying to stop a stolen vehicle in 1993. #yyc

Our Commission today is remembering and honouring all the police and peace officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. We will forever be grateful to them all, especially the 12 @CalgaryPolice officers who have fallen while protecting our community. #yyc #police
