More positively, Superman is quite good. No silly "dark" undertones or 45 minutes of backstory. Straight into the action and a lot of silliness. Recommend.
Going to the pictures really is a deeply unpleasant experience. 40 quid for me and two boys. 5 quid for a bottle of juice. Tenner for a tub of popcorn, half an hour of ads before it starts. How are these places still in business? Or have I answered my own question?.
