Next we hear from CPAG’s head of policy @sophiekhowes - there are reasons to be hopeful for the upcoming child poverty strategy but there is still a failure to recognise the value of social security to reduce child poverty #WelfareRights2025

We're supporting the #ScotlandDemandsBetter campaign - too many families in Scotland are living in poverty. We need more government action both in Scotland & at UK level, such as investment in social security for families, so that that everyone has a foundation for the future.

Our first keynote speaker is @S_A_Somerville. Eradicating child poverty is a top priority for @ScotGov & investment in social security is an essential way to support families as well as 'taking every effort to ensure this support reaches families' #WelfareRights2025

CPAG’s John Dickie sets the scene on before our keynote speaker. While we have seen child poverty fall in Scotland as a result of social security investment - the current policy package will fall far short of meeting 2030 targets #WelfareRights2025
