On Day 2 of the African People's CoP in Benin delegates embarked on a learning visit to Meku Village, where communities were relocated to make way for the Abidjan–Lagos Corridor highway. What was meant to be a model of development has instead become a story of loss and neglect.

Women pay the price for extractivism. They walk farther for clean water, care for mining-sick families, & hold communities together. The tax system ignores this, forcing them to subsidize corporate profits. #Wethe99 @Cde_Masiyiwa @cdemlambo @FiaZimbabwe @CNRG_ZIM @FightInequality

Whats happening at Christmas Pass in Mutare is not mining. In a normal situation this should be illegal. The mining is creating a real risk of a mudslide that could endanger Hillcrest College and the houses just below the slopes. Government should stop this!
