The zoning changes approved for neighborhoods from Licton Springs to Eastlake and the Central District to Rainier Beach are some of the most sweeping in Seattle in recent times.

Today we will cast our final vote on Citywide MHA! As we prepare for this historic vote, I want to share a few more stories of people who benefit from affordable housing along with helpful background on what affordable housing means for Seattle:

We talked to residents of housing projects partly funded by the city to find out how they got there and what it means to them.

"City life means more access to climate-friendly transportation options — not just buses and trains, but the convenience of walking and cycling to places like schools, shopping and jobs." Thanks to @SierraClubSEA for making the environmental case for MHA:

By increasing housing capacity within Seattle city limits, Mandatory Housing Affordability legislation will reduce development pressure on habitat and farmland beyond our urban boundaries.

Let’s move past process & take action to build more homes for our neighbors & invest in affordable housing we desperately need. Let's finally pass Citywide MHA to live up to our goals as an equitable & livable city for all. Read my op-ed in @seattletimes: https://t.co/65UzQoxtiE

Devastated to learn that a UW student slipped on ice and passed away. As more snow is in our forecast, let's do our small part by keeping the sidewalks in front of our homes clear and assisting our neighbors who might need our help.

Eli's Park Project is a great example of community members making meaningful change in our neighborhood. Head over to Burke Gilman Playground Park tomorrow evening to learn more about design ideas for the new park and for a lantern walk at dusk.
