Tonight's House vote could end this shutdown — one that was manufactured by leadership’s priorities. Families forced to wait on SNAP, WIC, Head Start while tax breaks to the wealthy marched on. We’ll be watching.

On 11/5, federal agents entered a learning center without a warrant & detained a Pre-K teacher with documentation. We condemn these actions & demand policymakers pass legislation to protect sensitive and family centered locations from ICE enforcement. https://t.co/P0kqa47EC0

While Congress is fighting over corporate tax breaks, families are about to lose the very benefits that keep food on the table and the health care access that keeps the healthy. If the government doesn’t reopen soon, millions of people won’t get SNAP in November.

The Trump Administration has the authority to legally provide SNAP benefits during the shutdown -- to not do so is just a choice at the expense of millions of families.

Making use of emergency funds and transfers would allow SNAP households to receive food assistance in November.

Why are workers being punished for government failures? Loss of work authorization could mean American families having to go without heat or groceries right as the holiday season begins.

NEW: The Trump admin just ended the practice of automatically extending work permits when people file to renew them — meaning that if @USCIS takes too long to process a renewal the applicant loses their authorization to work legally. Applies to applications filed after tomorrow.

Working families are paying taxes either way -- but Congress claims there is no money to put toward these programs. So where is the money going?

Congress must reopen the government, extend ACA premium tax credits, and restore benefits families depend on. This shutdown didn’t have to happen—but lawmakers can still choose people over politics. https://t.co/pAhtoiZM5Z

The priorities are clear: If the shutdown drags into November, key programs like #SNAP, #WIC, and #HeadStart will lose funding—jeopardizing food access for **42 MILLION* people & early learning for *65,000* families.

As thousands of federal workers go unpaid, ICE agents are still funded to carry out indiscriminate immigration enforcement. Over 170 U.S. citizens have already been detained—while the White House focuses on a $300 million East Wing renovation.

Instead of extending affordable health coverage, lawmakers passed H.R. 1—trillions in tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy, while slashing #Medicaid, #SNAP, and ACA subsidies. The result: RISING health costs and FEWER families able to make ends meet.
