We're a national nonprofit that works to reduce poverty, improve the lives of people with low incomes, and create pathways to economic security for everyone.

The official poverty rate dipped slightly from 2023 to 2024, down to 10.6%, and child poverty also fell to 14.3%. But the top line doesn't tell the whole story. Poverty rates for Black and Hispanic Americans did not budge and point to persistent inequities in our economy.

The 1963 March on Washington was for jobs and freedom. We celebrate the dream, but far too often forget the demands: guaranteed jobs, decent wages, bargaining strength, & respect. 62 years later, workers of color still face higher unemployment rates & fewer paths to power. (1/5)

Something is wrong with a system where 76% of workers say they’re worried to make ends meet, while greedy corporate CEOs make 285x what the median worker does. Working people don’t have to accept this. A union contract is how we fight back.
