Children and babies also eat, drink, and breathe proportionately more than adults. Their bodies are still developing, and exposure to pollution or toxic chemicals—before and after birth—can cause severe and permanent harm to a child’s health and development.

Often it looks like nursing, crawling, or putting fingers in their mouths. These are all age-appropriate behaviors that mean kids have more chances to ingest harmful substances in their environment.
