Maintaining a balance between transparency, efficiency, and flexibility is crucial to ensure that European Works Councils remain effective partners in shaping the future of work in Europe.

Ceemet believes that these measures risk slowing down decision-making and transforming social dialogue into a rigid, procedural exercise rather than a constructive tool for cooperation.

Key issues include definition of transnational matters, new disclosure and confidentiality provisions, increased legal costs for admin. & judicial procedures, the disregard for existing & well-functioning EWC agreements, & stringent prior procedures before decisions can be made.

On 9 October, @Europarl_EN voted in favour of the provisional agreement on the #EWCDirective revision, following a plenary debate the previous day. While the goal of strengthening social dialogue is shared, the current revision raises serious concerns for Ceemet & MET sector.
