Ranger Cal spotted this large Laetiporus sulphureus at Dane-In-Shaw-Pasture SSSI. Also know as Chicken of the Woods, it grows mainly on oak trees. Find out more on the @WildlifeTrusts website -

Thank you to volunteers, Mike & Derek, who were helping Ranger Martin clear vegetation from the footpaths at the top of Tegg's Nose Country Park last week. Despite dry weather brambles & grass are still growing, so we need to get the brushcutters out to keep paths clear.

One of our neighbouring farms, next to Tegg's Nose, recently experienced a dog attack on one of their sheep and needed treatment from a vet. Every year 1000s of farm animals & wildlife are killed or injured by dog attacks, please always keep your dogs on a lead around livestock.

Recently the Bollin Valley Partnership held their Macclesfield Bioblitz at Macclesfield Riverside Park. Groups came from Bollinbrook, Beech Hall & Prestbury schools for a range of activities. They enjoyed pond dipping, face painting, river invertebrates, nature walks & more

Apprentices from @ASTRAZENECAUK battled through a day of torrential rain a few months ago to help clear Himalayan balsam & construct a new viewing/dipping platform at one of the ponds in Macclesfield Riverside Park. Their efforts have now paid off and the final result looks great
