We concluded with a celebratory reception at the National Arts Centre — a moment to connect, reminisce, and look ahead to the next 25 years of impact 🥂

Our final panel, highlighted alumni leaders in the industry reflecting on innovation, collaboration, and the responsibilities of technology creators.

Alumni in private practice from across the legal field discussed how law firms and legal professionals adapt to the challenges of data, privacy, and AI in a rapidly changing world.

Our panel with alumni in government examined the evolving role of public institutions in fostering innovation and ensuring technology serves the public good.

Next, alumni in civil society explored how advocacy, policy, and grassroots initiatives influence the governance of emerging technologies and digital rights.

The first panel brought together alumni in academia to reflect on how research and teaching continue to shape the technological landscape. Thank you to our panelists for setting the tone for a day of dialogue.

On October 3rd, we were honoured to celebrate CLTS @15/25: Shaping Technology for Society, bringing together generations of alumni, and partners to reflect on 25 years of innovation at @uOttawa and the future of law, technology, and society.

Nous avons conclu par une réception au Centre national des Arts — un moment pour créer des liens, se remémorer le passé et envisager les 25 prochaines années d'influence 🥂

Notre dernière session a mise en avant des ancien(ne)s de l’industrie qui ont réfléchi à l’innovation, à la collaboration et aux responsabilités des concepteurs de technologies.

Des ancien(ne)s exerçant dans la pratique privée, issus de divers domaines juridiques, ont discuté de la manière dont les cabinets d'avocats et les professionnels du droit s'adaptent aux défis liés aux données, à la confidentialité et à l'IA dans un monde en rapide évolution.

Notre session composée d'ancien(ne)s œuvrant au sein du gouvernement s'est penché sur l'évolution du rôle des institutions publiques dans la promotion de l'innovation et la garantie que la technologie serve l'intérêt général.

Ensuite, les ancien(ne)s issu(e)s de la société civile ont examiné comment la défense des intérêts, les politiques et les initiatives locales influencent la gouvernance des technologies émergentes et les droits numériques.

La première session a réuni des ancien(ne)s issu(e)s du milieu universitaire afin de réfléchir à la manière dont la recherche et l'enseignement continuent de façonner le paysage technologique. Merci à nos panélistes d'avoir donné le ton pour cette journée de dialogue.
