Today is a great day to be a Canadian. Planting trees whose shade I may never know. I comment on CAF, economics, politics.

Here's an article, in the open media, discussing Canada's role in tracking this ship which came out days before the CCG says they detected this ship.

The Canadian military and possibly the coast guard are keeping tabs on a Chinese research vessel as it returns to Arctic waters off Alaska for the second year in a row.

This vessel has been tracked through its entire journey. By Japan and then by Canada. While it's probably technically accurate to say the US Coast Guard "detected" it as described, the context makes it sound like its presence wasn't known before then. That's false.
Meeting presence with presence. Yesterday, a @USCG aircraft responded following detection of a Chinese research vessel off Alaskaβs coast. For over 150 years, Americans have counted on the Coast Guard to uphold U.S. sovereignty, provide national security, and promote economic

The shipping channels created by the Great Lakes are one of the greatest economic blessings Canada benefits from. But, consistently, the average age of Lakers increases and their numbers decrease. We're not replacing retiring ships. Maybe we need to.

Isn't Bollinger the company that's screwed up the Polar Security Cutter program so badly that it's created a need for another icebreaker to be rushed forward?. Seems weird to add them to a team trying to solve the problem they created.

I'm always, intuitively, surprised by how few space flights astronauts do. Just two in 16 years. I understand some of the reasons why. And, at least with long-duration flights, their time in space/year is similar to a pilot's time flying/year. Still seems weird, though.
NASA astronaut and microbiologist Kate Rubins retired Monday after 16 years with the agency. During her time with @NASA, Rubins completed two long-duration missions aboard the International @Space_Station , logging 300 days in space and conducting four spacewalks.

As much as this guy appears to be a Dingus. I'm unclear what the fine was for, and the city is doing a terrible job of explaining it.

Montreal fined a local church $2.5K for hosting U.S. Christian singer Sean Feucht, whose MAGA ties sparked protests and permit cancellations across Canada.

Sometimes a veteran surfaces, long after their service is over, struggling at the end of a long, grease-covered rope that stretches decades back to their time in uniform. I listen.
