Historians: I'm writing about the Battle of Lewisham and New Cross Fire for people not likely to have studied them. What resources can I point my reader to that centre community experiences of these events over national reporting? Doesn't need to be academic. Thanks.

I'm not saying I'm having a slow writing day, but I did just have to look up the title of my own thesis 🤦

I'm not working in academia anymore but I would still like to support sociology PGRs/ECRs. If anybody would like a mentor, or even just a critical friend to read over their work, do get in touch, esp first gen students! ✨📚☕️

It's not often a HE Policy blog makes me laugh but @Wonkhe describing the OfS reports as 'one of the longest external examiner reports I’ve ever read' raised a wry smile.

Today I took the ‘Interim’ out of my job title and became Associate Dean for Education and Student Experience in the School of Law and Social Sciences. Luckily not-STEM subjects and post 92s are really popular with the government right now so it should be a cake walk. 😂

Lots of angry muttering for me as I support the school with clearing today. My heart goes out to all of those who had their GCSEs cancelled during COVID and whose results were then dependent on exams. Lots of educational inequality and bad policy stacked on top of each other.

For #FestivalofArchaeology I’d like to share with you some notes below about the Anglo-Saxon princely burial in Prittlewell, Essex. The discovery shaped my career in museums and I’m proud of my small role in its interpretation. 📷 @MOLArchaeology https://t.co/JqS5BHwCOL

Presumably the event was a simulation of how they would like the welfare state to allocate resources in future.

The HE proposal, by measuring salaries, means no appreciation of the starting point of a student, or their disadvantages. A big blow for social mobility. Also, what about where people graduate into underpaid public sector jobs where salaries are kept down?

This @hepi report authored by @tonymossuk shows there is no significant difference in the size of the outcome gaps between TEF Bronze, Silver and Gold providers. Why? Good teaching reduces attainment gaps. https://t.co/K6GUTUz3Y3 via @HEPI_news
