π¨BREAKINGπ¨ #CCPUCalifornia has reached a tentative agreement w/the State of California that protects benefits, wins stabilization pay, & ongoing cost-of-living adjustments, helping keep child care doors open by starting to stem the loss of skilled providers created by low pay.

Working families rely on us and we are proud to serve them. For many families who work non-traditional hours like farmworkers, family child care providers are often their only option! Strong families start with #fairpay for quality child care.

Due to federal policy changes under the Trump administration, some family child care providers may receive notices from Covered CA about coverage or premium changes for 2026. But our union won health fund is here to support us. Learn more and enroll now: https://t.co/0330Mzba74

What does #fairpay for quality child care mean? It means the end of unlivable pay for the backbone of the 4th largest economy in the world. It means child care providers will finally be paid for the hours, sweat, and love we put into serving our community.

Providers like union sister Sylvia are being forced to cut operating hours or close their doors altogether due to low wages! Until California pays providers the #truecostofcare, families will continue to lose access to affordable child care during their working hours.

Just as David Huerta has long stood with CCPU members, we are proud to #StandWithDavid β
Pursuing misdemeanor charges against @seiuusww & @seiucalifornia president David Huerta is a gross abuse of power by this administration. The 15 million members of the AFL-CIO stand shoulder to shoulder with David as he fights for justice. https://t.co/VjYKsla9Dt

That's why it's critical that we show up to demand respect and fair pay any opportunity we can. Thank you to the providers who made it out to last week's hearing on child care costs and to everyone who tuned it to the livestream.

Ask any child care provider why we keep providing care despite years of poverty wages from the state and we'll share something similar: because we love our kids and their families, but love doesn't pay the bills!

The state's current level of support for child care providers during disasters is NOT ENOUGH! When child cares close, families aren't able to go to work. #CALeg: the state must be better prepared to support child care providers and working families when the next disaster strikes!

California must increase disaster planning, including sufficient financial and other support after disasters and better preparation for future disasters.

Fires across LA this year forced hundreds of child care providers to close their doors to the families they serve, including union sister Francisca.
