Visiting #Rikers is a hard thing to do. From the limited transportation, invasive searches, and strict dress code policies many visitors feel as if they could easily be detained too for a misstep. https://t.co/tG02AsJ18Z

More than 85% of the women at the Rose M. Singer Center have mental health needs. Instead of being detained their needs should be addressed with gender specific trauma informed services. #WhatAboutHer? https://t.co/XaYc7oF9Yw

ATI and ATD programming are essential because they allow women to stay in their community while receiving the support & resources they need to thrive & address their past traumas. Being detained at the Rose M. Singer Center does none of this #WhatAboutHer

Historically, pregnant women on Rikers have been shackled to beds when giving birth, put in solitary confinement, and ripped away from their newborn babies. This is cruel and unusual punishment. None of this is healthy for the mother or newborn child. #WhatAboutHer? #HALTSolitary

#WhatAboutHer? A New York magazine exposé revealed that corrections officers (COs) persistently and repeatedly sexually assault women; reports of rape, bribery and retribution expose a culture of violence that often goes unspoken: https://t.co/OoIgTmpZ9H

#WhatAboutHer? COVID-19 has exacerbated already dangerous conditions on Rikers. Rikers is not equipped to address public or mental health & solitary confinement makes it worse. No one should be in solitary ever & especially during a pandemic: https://t.co/5bADWvC3pm

Layleen Polanco was a trans woman of color who died in solitary confinement while detained on Rikers after being ignored by guards during a medical emergency. Solitary=torture. That’s why we need to #HALTSolitary. #WhatAboutHer? #WhatAboutLayleen? https://t.co/LRVaWPGTVR
