Steve was the Wildlife Officer at our Cape Clear Bird Observatory for many years and, as anyone lucky enough to have met him will know, a truly lovely, kind man. We will be paying a full tribute to him and his life very soon.

While Oct. is prime time for observing seabird migration on Cape, current guests might spot some early Great Shearwaters!. These birds undertake a remarkable migration, from remote breeding grounds in South Atlantic islands, to North Atlantic waters in the non-breeding season.

Cape is known for its rarities. Our guests may be lucky enough to spot the superb Western Subalpine Warbler, which has been recorded here on rare occasions!. A migratory species, this bird breeds in the Mediterranean region, spending winter in sub-Saharan Africa. 📷Dick Coombes

Missed a perfect day for seawatching today - but had an excellent reaso for doing so! We had our monthly volunteer group in, so the 3 main beaches and North Harbour have all litter picked! And then, we have catalogued all of the books in the Clive Hutchinson.

Filling in the Daily Log is an important daily ritual at Cape Clear Bird Observatory. But how does it work, and why is it important?🤔. Let us take you through it 👇. @BirdWatchIE
