This “little ones in the middle” setup is working really well! They are all entertaining each other and the big kids are separated enough to not be fighting over space 😁

Mom skills: the ability to filter out a bunch of distracting noise and still hear the toddler mutter “pooooopy butt” from downstairs. (He hadn’t actually pooped but there was pee in the potty!)

Among the issues raised: since a googleplex requires writing out more 0s than there are atoms in the known universe, is it basically infinity? And if is it, is the factorial of a googleplex more infinite? (I do not know the answers to these questions).

So my goal in introducing this "boundary alarm" language is to build a foundation for discussing two things: 1. how can we communicate our own boundaries more clearly? 2. how can we pay attention to other people so we notice their boundaries even when they are not explicit?

At a recent birthday party, one of my kids did not want anyone throwing water balloons at him. Unfortunately the boundary alarm he picked was to throw water balloons back at anyone who threw them at him. This was not effective at communicating the boundary!
