Some were taken by direct violence, & others by suicide- both rooted in the same systems of hate, discrimination, and harassment. Today & always, we honor their lives, speak their names, & reaffirm our unwavering commitment to ending all forms of violence against our community

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) was founded over 25 years ago to memorialize the murder of a transgender woman. Since last year’s TDOR, we’ve continued to lose members of our TGI community- and even one life lost is one too many. 1/3

Thank you, Madam Speaker. In 1987, I was a closeted teenager terrified of a world that seemed determined to eliminate gay people. You used your platform in Congress to fight AIDS — to fight for people like me. 1/2
