Mark your calendars for August 30 for Food Truck Friday at Civic Plaza in honor of Black Business Month! From 11 AM - 4 PM there will be food trucks, local Black-owned businesses, movement classes, a DJ, and community organizations and resources. #OneAlbuquerque

Last week OEI's Director, Sonya Lara, and the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs Liasian, Beatriz Valencia, attended an event hosted by the Mexican Consulate to address public safety in the immigrant community and to encourage immigrants to feel safe about reporting crime.

This weekend Summer Jobs Connect, through Bank on Burque, donated 2,000 backpacks to Cruzin' into the School Year. Our team was also there passing out financial empowerment info. Thank you to Youth & Family Services for putting on such a great event! #OneAlbuquerque

July is Disability Pride Month! It's a time to celebrate disabled persons embracing their disabilities as integral parts of who they are, reclaiming visibility in public and interacting fully with their disabilities out in the open, and rejecting shame and internalized ableism.

We are partnering with the Imperial Sovereign Court of New Mexico (Reign XXX) to collect school supplies during the entire month of July. If you would like to donate, you can drop off school supplies between 8 AM - 5 PM at our office on the 4th floor of City Hall (Suite 4072).

This week we signed the Tribal Notification & Engagement Consultation amendment, requiring feedback from tribal representatives when planning new developments near historic & culturally significant tribal land. We're proud to see this first-of-its-kind initiative be established!
