With the passing of Barbara Bush we say goodbye to a wonderful First Lady, mother, author and advocate for universal literacy. Barbara has meant so much to so many and her memories and life will continue to shine throughout the Bush Presidential Library and Museum (1/3).
George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush are the first father/son combination to serve as President since John Quincy Adams (1825-1829) and John Adams (President from 1797-1801).

Today, we're honoring the late Barbara Bush for her 94th birthday. An iconic woman who made leaps and bounds in improving the lives of American citizens through family literacy.
President and Mrs. Bush’s love affair spanned decades. They were married on January 6, 1945 and in 2000 they became the longest running presidential love story, surpassing John and Abigail Adams who were married 54 years.

Gravesite at the Bush Library and Museum in College Station now open. It will be open until 8:00 p.m. tonight and 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. tomorrow with free admission to the museum for these two days. Wednesday is regular hours and admission fees.
Today we remember the life and legacy of President George H.W. Bush who passed away on November 30, 2018. Even though the Bush Library and Museum is still closed due to the health crisis, you can still visit the museum virtually on our website.

President and Mrs. Bush were deeply impacted by the death of their daughter Robin, who succumbed to leukemia at the age of three. For the rest of their lives, helping to fight cancer was one of the many great causes driving George and Barbara Bush.

President Bush flew 58 combat missions as a navy pilot during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals. He was honorably discharged in September 1945 with the rank of lieutenant.

Happy 74th anniversary to these two. In "All the Best," Pres. Bush shared a letter he wrote to Barbara. "You have given me joy that few men know," he said. "I have climbed perhaps the highest mountain in the world, but even that cannot hold a candle to being Barbara's husband."
In honor of President George H.W. Bush’s birthday, the Texas National Guard conducted a wreath laying ceremony at the Bush Family Gravesite this morning. Pierce Bush, the grandson of President George H.W. Bush, and his wife Sarahbeth Bush, placed the wreath at the gravesite.

First Lady Barbara Bush was a lifetime advocate for education and family literacy. She would read excerpts from a book and answer questions from students from around the world at the annual Reading Discovery Distance Learning Program and Videoconference at the Bush Center (3/3).
On Dec. 6, a bronze, life-size statue of Sully will be on display in the Fidelity corridor as a part of the memorial exhibit. Stop by and see the amazing work of Susan Bahary, provided by America's VetDogs.

Today, we join the world in mourning the loss of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. She was loved and admired by George and Barbara Bush for her dedication to service and her country. We extend our condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Great Britain.
Rest in Peace, Colin Powell. Powell, former Secretary of State during George W. Bush's administration in 2001, will always be remembered "as a great public servant" and "widely respected at home and abroad".
