#BurtonFD has responded to (5) gas leaks in 1.5 months (4) caused by workers/residents severing gas lines while digging (2) required evacuation of homes. According @DominionEnergy homeowners/contractors are encouraged to dial 811 for assistance in locating lines prior to digging.

With "Real Feel" temps around 100° it seems like a good time to play with water. #BurtonFD Shift I trains on Drafting, an operation utilized to access water in @bftcountysc areas without hydrants. It is a finely & synchronized operation to ensure water continues to flow.

Monday afternoon #BurtonFD & MCAS F&ES responded to a @beaufortcountysc Convenience Center finding 2 trash fires caused by improperly disposed large lithium batteries. In a heat index of over 100°, it required over 3000gal of water & 1hr+ to extinguish. Please follow the rules.

This 4th of July, #BurtonFD & @BeaufortSC_EMS responded to a patient who went into cardiac arrest after their arrival. Crews initiated advanced life support medical care which continued during transport to @BeaufortMem. The family advised us the patient is conscious & stable.

#BurtonFD responded to only 29 emergencies this holiday weekend in @bftcountysc. No fires, (20) medical emergencies & (3) vehicle collisions; (2) of which involved pedestrians being struck on Sunday, both resulting in fatalities. Our thoughts are with those families today.

This last week, #BurtonFD @ @bftcountysc 1st Responders Project trained 54 new Immediate Responders for our community. Students learned to respond to an opiate overdose, to @StopTheBleed & certified in infant, child, & adult CPR with AED & received free Narcan to take home.

#BurtonFD remembers the 19 wildland firefighters, known as the Granite Mountain Hotshots, who died 13yrs ago today battling the Yarnell Hill Fire in Az. It is the largest loss of life for firefighters since 9/11. Below is the last photo taken before they perished. #OnlyTheBrave

DINING WITH GUIDO! This time he's assisting budding chef FF/EMT Disbrow prepare lunch on the 1st day of 2 on shift. It's in good hands! FF Disbrow earned Pride of the Battalion & Order of the Maltese Cross awards when he graduated from @SCStateFire. Needed protein is on the menu.

TBT! In 1978 @bftcountysc fire protection began to form but not all fire districts were up & running. In recognizing the need @BlufftonFire began to form & @DaufuskieC now enjoys fire protection. No matter where in Beaufort County you are today, if you call 911, help is close by.
