Northrop Grumman's "Mission Extension Vehicle-1" (MEV-1) is getting closer to its target, Intelsat 901!
Intelsat 901 & MEV-1 MEV-1 has arrived and thruster is switched off Standing off from Intelsat by a few hundred km as engineers prepare to initiate the approach trajectory and head for docking https://t.co/lEyo1Mcot5

DLR Expert Manuel Metz delivers 🇩🇪statement on space debris at COPUOS #STSC: close approaches of 🛰️🛰️ often go unnoticed, collisions 💥 inevitable - hence need for further developing guidelines for debris mitigation. 👉 https://t.co/oEt18BLP7j

Australian Aboriginal tribes have accurately recorded the story of the post-ice age rising of the seas between 7,000 - 10,000 years ago - all passed down orally.

Fires in Australia have burned 7.4M acres — an area about the size of Belgium. ▪️ At least 11 people killed ▪️ At least 1,000 homes destroyed ▪️ 100K people ordered to evacuate near Melbourne

Marie Curie’s notebooks are still so radioactive that they must be kept in lead-lined boxes and will not be safe to handle for 1500 years.

Some #TuesdayMotivation 💪 Seeing the progress of our space debris removal satellite ELSA-d covered in gold MLI for the first time. She is really starting to look like a satellite ready for launch (and clearing the orbits!) #Astroscale2020

Spreading the gospel of #space sustainability to the #fintech and #automotive industries. Thank you Tokyo Fintech and @Porsche Japan for having us (and for the model Boxster!) to share our mission of keeping Earth's orbits clean for future generations 🧹 🌏

TLE mean age is now down to 0.8 days old—the best level in over 5 years. Awesome!

Black cats have become less popular as adopted pets, in part because they are seen as less Instagram-friendly than other cats.

Too true. Trying to validate a method on a static data set - call it 'sample' - is no proof for the method working on the entire 'population' (that is ever changing). Chosing a representative sample however requires very good understanding of the population. Statistics 101
there are insufficient benchmark data sets with which to evaluate scientific work so confirmation bias is built in to a great number of so-called scientific discoveries. shall I continue?

I have a suspicion that we'll see a lot more of these kinds of low thrust, long duration maneuvers. Could this have implications for various fields of SSA including tracking, cataloguing, association and conjunction predictions?
@18SPCS @SpaceX Here is a short animation showing how the latest @18SPCS TLEs & @SpaceX SupTLEs compare over the span of 24 hours. Some pairs move in close proximity while others are not correlated at all as thrusting begins: https://t.co/dCxEAGYuPu. This highlights the complexity.

Great example of 'opinions' about the whereabouts of objects in space.
Here’s the problem with trying to match the @18SPCS TLEs vs. the @SpaceX TLEs. Yellow are @18SPCS TLEs, orange @SpaceX supplemental TLEs. Some line up well, others not as well, & some not at all. SupTLEs are moving backward relative to @18SPCS TLEs due to constant low thrust.
