This is beneath the office of the Attorney General.
Regardless of one's feelings on Trump or on the verdict, this is awful optics, and it shouldn't be tolerated.
Shame on you.
Wrote a ticket a couple months ago for someone going 80 mph in a 35. A couple days I hear it's getting pleaded down to a loud muffler. As if I didn't plead it down on the scene by not arresting him for reckless operation and towing the vehicle. Smh.
Super happy to announce that I just swore into the United States Army. I will be shipping out to basic training on January 25th and will be away for a while. I will be continuing a career of law enforcement along with the Army Reserves.
Tomorrow morning starts a new journey in my life, one in which I'm particularly excited for. It's day one in my new department. I cannot wait to meet my new brothers and sisters.
Passed my state test today to waive the police academy and am officially now certified to work here in Arizona. Been working on this process since I started on October 24.
Now I get a nice little 8 day paid break until I start field training on night shift next Wednesday 👀
As most of you know, I have been away from the job for a little while as I joined the Army and made the transition to Arizona. That is changing. This morning, HR called and gave me a formal offer. I will be signing it tomorrow, on my mother's 4 year death anniversary. I'm ready.
That procession was quite something. Seven miles with THOUSANDS of people of all different backgrounds lined on both sides of the street. The support shown for Anthony Dia and the profession as a whole was both sobering and overwhelming 💙🖤💙🖤
I pledge to treat citizens with respect, to conduct myself in a professional manner, to act free of prejudice, and to use the minimal amount of force necessary to do my job.
I ask my fellow officers to join me. If you can't abide by these basic principles, turn in your badge.
Tonight marks 3 years since I walked in to my house to find my mom on the ground. Tomorrow will mark 3 years since we took her off life support, leaving me with no living parents in the picture and changing my life forever. Definitely a tougher couple days of the year. 💔
Well I'm no longer single.
Things were made official yesterday on 12/12 at 12:12 PM, as her favorite number is 12.
A big change after being single since the spring of 2020, and with this being only my second relationship.
We shall see where it goes.
Today would be the 57th birthday of my amazing mother, had she still been with us today. Instead, she's resting easy with the man upstairs looking down over me. I try every day to make her proud no matter what this crazy world throws at me. Happy Birthday to my guardian angel 😇
5 years ago today, I came home from visiting my girlfriend in college to find my mother on the ground and unresponsive after not responding to calls and texts all day.
My sister and I had to take her off life support the next day. She is still the greatest woman I've ever known.
A dispatcher from my Ohio agency called me late yesterday. An officer my age who was hired with me in 2019 took her life last night.
We worked well together as rookies, took calls together, backed each other up, and were friends before I moved.
There is help out there. 💔
I leave for Mississippi on Monday courtesy of the Army. Second straight year I get to spend my birthday on an Army base in the middle of nowhere. Trying to contain my excitement 🙄
MRI results came back this morning. Complete tear of a ligament and a partial tear in two other ligaments. Follow up with my ortho on Tuesday to determine the plan of action. Definitely would've rathered having just broken the damn thing!
Duty belt is all set up, uniforms (7 shirts and 4 pairs of pants) are all pressed/cleaned up, boots will be cleaned and shined tomorrow. Should be all ready to start on night shift Wednesday night. 🙌
Between 2015-2018, 948 black people and 1,880 white people were killed by police (WaPo).
In an analysis of USA Today front-page stories during the same years, they had 82 stories of police shootings. They mentioned 57 black people and 1 white person.
Which profession is biased?
I walked through three schools yesterday to learn the layout for when I get called there.
Ended up leaving with an awful lot of debt.
I owe police stickers to more kids than I can even count. One of the teachers my age told me to come back soon.
Good day ✔️
I cannot believe that I start school again on Monday.
My mom always wanted to see me go to college because it was an opportunity she never had.
I know she'd be darn proud to see me get a Master's degree while working my dream job, two things she wasn't around to witness. 😇
Well my staycation ended today as I dropped my best friend and his gf off at the airport, but that that didn't stop me from having one of the best weeks of my life doing what I love to do - spending time with my friends and exploring the beautiful state of Arizona.
I'd like to think my next girlfriend (hi I'm Buckeye 👋) will be a lucky lady. Good food, yearly vacations, fun experiences, and most importantly, she will be loved. Ahhh good times ahead for whoever takes this goofball 😂
"I'm on private property I don't have to identify myself, I know my rights," says a man at 3:30 A.M. after my FTO and I stopped him and his buddy right outside a car with the alarm going off.
I couldn't help but correct his lack of knowledge regarding "reasonable suspicion."
My future wife is going to be very surprised at the size of our wedding invitation list when invites go out to a bunch of Twitter friends she has no idea exist 🤣
Oh but the things I'd do to have my mom back. Gosh even if just for one more conversation. Coming up on four years in September and yet there's still a level of pain that'll always be there. Kudos to the single mothers who serve the role of two parents. ✊️
MRI in 90 minutes... I'm so nervous. Have that feeling of a pit in my stomach. Not that I'm going to get immediate results/plan of action but obviously this will give a clear picture of what happened. Follow up appointment is next Tuesday.
I guess I'll go into work tonight and start day one of FTO.
Eight days off was awfully nice but being out on the road will sure beat sitting in an office. Going to feel weird putting on the uniform again for the first time.
Also, hello to my fellow night shifters. 👋
Part of work today was me being told to head to an address for a community event which I knew nothing about.
I then realized I had been sent to a 55+ community clubhouse.
My role? To be a taste tester in a chilli contest with firemen. Free food? You bet!
Some highlights from a report of police encounters in 2020.
- 88% of people who initiated contact were satisfied with the police response
- Force or threat of force was used in only 2% of encounters
- A larger % of Caucasians had contact with police than did African-Americans
I recently noted that I'm going on a cruise in November for the first time.
What I didn't mention is that the four people I'm going with are all people that I met on Twitter.
Really goes to show you that for as toxic as this app can be, it can also make wonderful memories.
Tomorrow morning starts a new journey in my life, one in which I'm particularly excited for. It's day one in my new department. I cannot wait to meet my new brothers and sisters.
Here's a picture of me with my Valentine (myself) for the second straight year. This picture was taken back in the Ohio days when I was continually distracted in roll call by my little buddy 🖤💙🖤
Orthopedic yesterday gave me the OK to try to transition from the boot and into a brace. He expects an 8-12 week timeframe for a recovery. Today marks two weeks since the injury and I start physical therapy next week 🤞🙏
@Kronykal
Quit the fearmongering.
We are not "at the end," nor is this a direct assault on Christianity.
And no, this isn't me agreeing with the proclamation in this case or even defending the President, this is me sick of the extremist rhetoric of both the far left and the far right.
So my team thought it would be funny to trap me inside a portable toilet with a humvee... apparently it isn't only the Twitter peeps who find joy in messing with me lol 🙄
The pain of losing your only parent is definitely magnified around this time of year. Especially when their birthday falls in December. Love ya momma 💔
Ever have those dreams (or nightmares) that mess with you because you think they're so real?
Mine involved me getting stabbed two days in a row and also shot in the stomach on the second day. Told dispatch to send EMS but they were taking forever.
Woke up in a panic.
So I spent yesterday at a middle school in Phoenix getting roasted by 7th graders, but one stood out.
I jokingly told the class that I was volunteering my time because I wanted to spend the day with them - someone shouted out "no you just want to be with her (the SRO)." Oof. 🤣
To my future wife (if that ever happens), I hope you like the room temperature below 72° or there's going to be some friction. Most things are negotiable but sleeping in an oven is not one.
Talk about a crazy 24 hours.
Stayed past shift four hours for a murder. Went home and slept. Woke up and am currently doing school homework that is due today. Lastly, I transition back to night shift tonight so it's day 5/8 in a row.
Forgive me for I am tired. 😴
It's awfully refreshing to see the Atlanta Police Department not tolerating any of the BS today.
Cities like Seattle and Portland should take note on how to respond when a slim group of people want to act like domestic terrorists, utilizing violence to achieve a political means.
Got to do some really awesome tactical driving training today, to include pursuits. Reminded me why driving was my favorite part of the police academy.
Also, may or may not have hit a few cones at the beginning. 😬
Gotta love when you're standing with your sergeant at Circle K and you hear 15 gun shots pop off in a nearby residential neighborhood.
The real kicker? Not a single person called it in.
But someone shoots off a bottle rocket in the street and the whole neighborhood calls. 🤦
Tonight concludes quarter one of graduate school as I turn in my final assignments.
Thanks to George Washington University, I'm a little bit smarter but a hell of a lot poorer.
Two week break until I'm back at it for more classes. 📖
I'm standing here and talking to an Army Colonel and she asked if I'm single.
I say yes and she said that she should introduce her daughter to me, but for me to remember that it's her daughter. 😂
Not trying to get political or anything but if your whole solution to this gas crisis is simply "ride a bike" or "go buy a Tesla" then you're just showing how out of touch you are.
Follow up appointment complete. Grade 3 sprain on the ankle and possible fully torn ligament. Will have an MRI and hopefully start PT in a couple weeks and see how it responds to that. Please not another surgery 🙏😭
Not a single state in America where the training is only 8 weeks, but go on. Also, they are two completely different jobs that aren't really comparable. The fact that this tweet received as much attention as it did shows the lack of understanding much of society has with this.
Lawyers need 7 years of university to practice and know the law. Police officers spend 8 weeks at an academy and are given a gun and badge to enforce the law. definitely a disconnect there
Not going to go into too many specific details but I had to call 911 on my way home from work earlier this morning.
This lead to a very high-speed pursuit and some deployed spike strips. Unfortunately, they terminated the pursuit.
Definitely one of my scarier moments. 😬
So excited to host my longtime best friend and his girlfriend starting on Wednesday. Coming out from Cleveland for a week and I get to play host and take them around the state of Arizona and "vacation" with them. Not a bad deal.
Tomorrow's a new chapter. Cleveland has been my home for the past 23 years and has given me a life I'm very grateful for. Goodbyes have been super tough and there's still a couple more to give. Despite this, I'm really excited to see what's in store for the future. Here we go!
2022 was a good one. Traveled to 7 states and Puerto Rico, spent my first full year in Arizona, lateraled to a police department here, and got accepted into graduate school which starts next week. Can't wait to keep building and see what 2023 has in store (maybe a companion 😂).
I've been called honey, sweetie, and darling more than being down here in Mississippi. I will be returning to Mississippi to find the future Mrs. Buckeye.
Well my Army day literally ended with me being told that I will be mobilizing to Fort Hood, Texas for a YEAR in December. A complete bummer to end my day. We will see what happens. Ughhhhhhh
Drill ended up being not so bad today. Scored the highest PT score in my entire platoon, met someone in my unit (a major) who is a recently retired Phoenix officer, and met another person in my unit who is a DEA agent and works with the Phoenix PD narcotics unit.
Passed the physical fitness test today and cleared to take the written test on Tuesday to become certified in Arizona. Just so happens that I'll only be working twice in the next 13 days before I start FTO.
For now, off to Los Angeles.
Oh and thanks in advance
